One of my other bunny groups lost a grande matriarch today. BunBun, the
famous yawning bunny of the internet
( Loading Image...)
passed away today at the truly impressive age of 15.

She was rescued at the age of 8 and spayed at 9, and she and her owner
were very close. She'd been slowing down a lot lately and her human
knew it was coming, but that doesn't make it any less sad.

I got to wondering - what is the oldest bunny you know of? Not
"guinness book" but know personally or online? I can't think of any who
lived longer than BunBun.

I don't know of any buns that old.

I wonder how her owner knew she was 8 years old when she was rescued?
It seems unusual to get an exact birthday for a rescued rabbit.

Domino I think is/was the oldest RO bunny. He was for sure over 15, could
have been over 16. He passed away a couple of months ago. :(

I think there's a thread on that, I'm going check. Good question!

(And I can't get the bunbuns link to work. :(

If you go to google images and search for "bunny yawn", Bunbun is the
first couple of pics.

Don't know - Now you have me curious - I just sent her an e-mail to ask.
I've only been on that group for less than a year so I don't know the
whole story.

I think Griz's rabbit Hans was the oldest I knew of besides Cocoa. I think
Hans was 16? Am I wrong there? Cocoa will be 13 next month.

I think you're right... I think Hans was 16. He was a cute little
fluffy bunny!

wow... Snowflake was an elderbun when my significant other had gotten
him... our vet had estimated his age to be somewhere between 15 and
almost 17 (which is quite unusual for most rabbits) and because of his
severe arthritis and even the fact that his teeth had ended up falling
out and his jaw had become arthritic and he was in incredible amounts
of pain, the vet said that he may have had maybe one more good year in
him... He was spunky but the arthritis was what was nasty for him.
Whiskey had lived to about 14 and Trixie was about 12 or 13. My little
Precious is going to be 10 this year, Jager will be 7, Todd is
probably about 10 or 11 as well... It would certainly be interesting
to know who the oldest bunny in the world is...
May BunBun rest in peace....
